One of Bach's greatest compositions is now available for advanced trombonist(s) who can read tenor clef. ?The work has been transposed down one full step from the original key of D minor to C minor. High "C" is the highest note requiring two advanced players. This transcription sounds amazing and is a fantastic showpiece for two trombonists & piano. It even sounds great with just the two trombone parts without piano.

This work gives all three trombonists a real workout. The 2nd part playing the moving voice mid-range along with the bass trombone on the bottom line. ?The top line can be played on an alto trombone (or tenor) and plays the famous choral prelude melody on top in a beautiful legato line.
A great transcription of Bach's "Dorian Toccata" BWV 538 for Trombone Octet by Ralph Sauer, Principal Trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Mr. Sauer's scoring for this work shows his great skill as a "Bach Brass Expert". Instrumentation is for 6 Tenors (parts 1-5 in tenor clef, 6th in bass) and 2 Bass trombones. Range goes to a high "D" for the 1st part in the final bars. Otherwise, range is moderate with no heavy endurance problems. This piece bounces along at a good clip and shows off technique & precise ensemble. A great choice for advanced performers.
Bach's 15 legendary Two Part Inventions, BWV 772-786, have been brilliantly transcribed for two Trombones by retired Los Angeles Philharmonic Principal Trombonist, Ralph Sauer. These works can be performed by 2 Tenor Trombonists or a Tenor & Bass Trombonist. All of the Inventions are in the original key and have been ornamented in the Baroque style by Mr. Sauer. The Inventions are perfect for addition to a recital or concert, or as a teaching tool and even just for fun in the practice room. Each of the 15 Inventions have been carefully laid out over two facing pages making the music easy to read. These works are for moderately advanced performers.
Beethoven's immortal Moonlight Sonata doesn't seem a likely candidate for Trombones, but Mr. Wilcox has done a lovely job with the gentle 2nd movement Allegretto for Trombone Quartet. Just a few minutes in length, this transcription can be performed by intermediate level musicians. Tenor clef for the top 2 parts.
A dramatic transcription of a 4 part choral hymn by Beethoven. The song's lyrics are by Gellert and are a majestic description of nature's declarations of the glory of God. Originally for solo voice and piano, this work has been traditional sung by men's chorus. Dr. Hanson's transcription is true to the score and has a wonderful timbre to it. The music is dramatic, bold yet noble in quality. A great 3 minute work for a concert. In Tenor and Bass Clefs for modertately advanced players. It's four movments: Allegro, Adagio cantabile, Scherzo and Presto work so well for the Trombone Trio, you would hardly know it was originally written for two Oboes and English Horn. Jason Beghtol has written a two movement work including story line and graphics that tells the adventure of this incredible man with a bionic body. The work in two movements is about 8 minutes in length.
The percussion part is intended to be performed by one musician and is for untuned instruments: Tom toms, Bass Drum, Claves, Shekere, Suspended Cymbal, Temple Blocks, Tambourine, Congas, Hammer & Anvil and Snare Drum.
The combination of the instrumentation and the tonality gives this work an enticing and earthy sound for the senses.
Bruckner's Mass No. 2 for winds and chorus has been skillfully arranged for 8 Trombones by Utah Symphony Orchestra Bass Trombonist, Russell McKinney. The huge expanse of Bruckner's music comes through in the luscious sounding Kyrie, from the softest to the loudest phrases. For advanced performers. Some alto & tenor clef.
The Sancus is from Bruckner's Mass No. 2 in E minor is originally scored for an orchestral wind section. Mr. McKinney is the Bass Trombonist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra and has done a beautiful job arranging this glorious movement from the Mass for 12 Trombones. The work is for very advanced performers requiring 3 alto Trombones and is about 4 minutes in length. From the quietest to the most massive sections of this movement, the sound of the Trombone is at its best.
A new set of 3 beautiful sounding Corelli Trio Sonatas for Trombone Trio transcribed by L.A. Philharmonic Principal Trombonist, Ralph Sauer. Opus 1, No. 2 in D major, Opus 1, No. 3 in G major, Opus 4, No. 1 in C major. Each trio of about 8 minutes in length is in a 4 movement structure of Slow-Fast-Slow-Fast. There are many great pure chorale harmonies, plus each 2nd movement has a contrapuntal style to it, which is great for building up keen ears and ensemble sense. These sonatas are of moderately advanced difficulty, in tenor and bass clefs. Endurance is not a problem because of the masterly editing of Mr. Sauer, who is legendary for his transcription skills. These trios can be performed by most College/University students and some keen high schoolers. Range goes from a pedal A for Bass Trombone to one high D for the 1st part, but most of the tessitura is in a normal range.
Jimbo's Lullaby is the second in a series of six pieces from Debussy's "Children's Corner Suite", originally for Piano. They are simple in style & light in character. The work is a depiction of a lullaby sung to a stuffed Elephant. This little gem of 3 1/2 minutes has been beautifully edited for advanced performers by Ralph Sauer for four Trombones. The bottom part, which features a great "Elephant style" solo, can be performed on Tuba, Contrabass or Bass Trombone.
